Pandemic Face Shields: How Simpson Electric Co. Employees Went From Manufacturing Meters to PPE

The idea to manufacture face shields started with an idea from Simpson Electric Company employees. They wanted to help keep people safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a Tribally-owned company, the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians Tribal Council unanimously approved the idea.

Simpson Electric is best known for manufacturing electrical test and measurement instruments for Charles Lindbergh’s first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean and for NASA’s Apollo space missions. Helping people succeed during historic moments is part of Simpson Electric’s DNA. Our employees led the effort to create face shields to help those on the frontlines of this historic pandemic.

The entire team at Simpson Electric is thrilled to donate 100 face shields to all 11 Wisconsin Tribes and the Lac Viex Desert Tribe. We stand ready to manufacture more face shields as needed. A story on this effort recently appeared in the Lakeland Times. Thank you to everyone who made this effort a success! Please stay safe and healthy.

I would be interested in obtaining shields for our choice class at LUHS. How much do they cost?
